Three Peas In A Pod

The wild and crazy ride of raising our triplets: Rowan, Eli, and Finn!

Sorry it’s been a while since I posted an update.  Things are still going incredibly well for all of the tots.  The prayers and positive thoughts worked wonders and as of the last scan there is no evidence of any brain bleed for Eli; it has completely resolved!  We are so thankful for this change and the quick resolution.

All of the boys also had their eye screening today for ROP (retinopathy of prematurity) so we are hoping for clean results with no issues.  They are also still having some spells of apnea and bradycardia but this is to be expected.  And they are doing great with their weight gain; as of this morning Rowan weights 3 lbs. 6 oz, and Elliott and Finn both weigh 3 lbs. 5 ozs.  This makes Finn the first one to reach the 1 lb. weight gain club.  You know your prespective is getting off when you think a 3 lb. baby looks a little chunky!  Their little cheeks have been filling out and Finn has even been sporting a little bit of a double chin.  It’s so nice to see some meat on their bones.

We are definitely starting to get anxious about their homecoming; as some of you know from first hand experience, this NICU ride can be very wearing on the heart and soul.  I had a really hard night last week when another beautiful baby passed away while I was on the unit seeing the boys.  He was a twin who just couldn’t fight off the awful infection from NEC; in that short moment the reality of the situation just came crashing back in.  We have been so fortunate so far; things with these little babies can change so fast.  I just hope and pray that this uneventful ride continues until I can get these boys home.
