Three Peas In A Pod

The wild and crazy ride of raising our triplets: Rowan, Eli, and Finn!

Quick update July 11, 2008

Just got home from a very long day at the hospital; still not a lot of information to pass on about Eli.  His cultures still have not grown anything but his lab results and general appearance continue to tell us that we are fighting a tough infection.  He is still on the ventilator and occasionally is receiving supplemental oxygen also; they have also got him on 3 very strong antibiotics to help fight the infection.  Generally, he just looks really puny and pathetic which is a little tough to see.  Hopefully we will look to extubate sometime over the weekend and we are also waiting on a consult from infectious disease.

And so as not to leave the other 2 boys out, I will brag on them a little.  Rowan got to move to a big boy bed early this morning; it’s a little open air bed but this is a huge step in him getting to come home 🙂 I’ll try to get some new pictures over the weekend.  Finn is set to move to an open air crib tomorrow maybe.  I also got to feed both Rowan and Finn from a bottle today; it’s a little hit or miss but they are learning.  For now they get to attempt to take 1 feed per shift from a bottle so twice a day.  As they improve, they will get more opportunities to eat from the bottle until they are eventually taking all of the feeds from the bottle.  Right now the only concerns for them are to gain weight and continue to make progress with their apnea and bradycardia spells.

This must be so tough on the whole family, but I would imagine especially on Mommy! I am praying for God to give you strength as well as little Eli. He can be healed and made strong as well as the other two. I will continue to pray for that every day. Hang in there.

  3. Both of our boys had septic spells, so I understand. Will pray for Eli’s healing, and for strength for you & Ross. . . But yah for Rowan & Finn! Isn’t it strange to see your baby in that open-air crib, now that you’re used to that box? How exciting to get to do some feedings! Such wonderful reports . . . Father God, thank you for all the wonderful progress these 3 little darlings have made. We know they are your little boys, on loan to Renita and Ross. We lift up little Eli, and pray for his complete healing and recovery. Give his little body the ability to fight off this infection completely, and to bounce back quickly. Strengthen his little lungs as he re-weans from the vent. Bless Renita & Ross with physical & emotional strength, and protect them from illness. Bless the renovations on their home to be completed quickly, for their home to be in order well before the boys make it home. Thank you for your faithfulness to the Patricks during this time! Amen.

May God Bless All of You. Take care. Everything will be Irie.

  5. First of all, congrats on your peanuts! I have been trying to keep up with them, so I added y’all to my blog roll. We’re praying that they will continue to strengthen. What a miracle y’all have received!
